Can I start with this? We are for Grand Rapids. We City Chapel, and we Ron and Anna. We are so passionate about the art and the music and the food and the coffee. But even more, we’ve fallen in love with this city. Every time I get off 131 North at Wealthy, my heart does a little jig at the sight of the skyline before me. When we run into neighbors at the local taco place, when we go for walks and say hi to new friends, when we host games nights in our home, when we go to the dog park or explore new tennis courts, I can feel my heart nudge in my chest.
Here in Grand Rapids, there are so many beautiful people. And here, there are so many beautiful people with really hard questions about faith and God and the bad things they see in the news and in the world. Grand Rapids is teaming with people who have questions.
And this is what we’re about at City Chapel. We are a church of the gospel for the city of Grand Rapids looking to be a place of refuge for downtown residents. We want to be a church that downtown residents want to attend. And we’d like you to consider getting involved through giving. I know, I know. I brought up money and it’s awkward. So, quickly, why give to City Chapel?
Because you’re passionate about your city. Or because you’re passionate about the gospel. Because you have questions and need a place to go. Or because you long to see the glory of God make it’s way into a loved one’s life. Because you need fellowship. Or because you’re longing for a place to share what’s so for you. Giving to the church can be hard. Asking others to give to the church is also hard. Here’s what I know. I know that everyday you’re serving in a variety of ways, in a number of places. And as Christians, just one of the many ways we can choose to give back, is through the church. Because, since the beginning, the church has always been called to love it’s neighbors. And you can’t love your neighbors without caring for them physically, spiritually, and emotionally. And that is what City Chapel is all about. Loving God and loving others.
This holiday season, consider becoming a monthly giver or giving a gift of $100 dollars to City Chapel. (You can give here.) Because God is calling us to Grand Rapids. We are a church of the gospel for the city. And know that in your generosity you are participating in bettering Grand Rapids. As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 9:6-12:
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as you have decided in your heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you...You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing…”
The point is this: through your generous giving the gospel will go out, and where the gospel goes out, lives are changed for the better, and where lives are changed for the better, cities are changed for the better. So, would you consider giving? If you're interested follow this link: give here. >>
