And just like that, summer has come to an end! Although the weather is disagreeing with our pleas for scarves and pumpkin spice, we’re excited to welcome a new month and ring in a fresh season (even if it isn’t officially fall for a few more weeks!).
Here’s what you need to know about the month of September in regards to City Chapel:
This month we’re celebrating all things preview services. From the amazing t-shirt truck after our August preview service to a genuinely intimate, beautiful community that God is building through City Chapel. If you’ve had the opportunity to join us for one of our four preview services, we’re grateful for you and thank God for bringing you to worship with us. If you haven’t had the chance to join us for a Sunday service yet, you have another chance Sunday, September 23. We hope to see you there at 10:15 a.m.! And tell your friends!
What We’re Up To
Save the date for our TWO upcoming services happening soon! You heard that right--TWO! Sunday, September 23 (last preview) and our launch October 7. We’d love to have you join us at CityFlats, but if you’re also feeling inclined to get involved on a volunteer level, there are plenty of jobs to be done! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to see how you can lend a hand.
Save the date for another amazing event: Addressing Injustice through Creativity. Andre Henry is joining us at Compass College on September 22 from noon to 5 p.m. to help us explore how creativity can be a tool used to address the injustices that surround us. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Click here for more information and to sign up. We’d love to see you there! This program is made possible through the Vital Worship Grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship.
At our two most recent preview services we had the opportunity to learn from City Chapel’s partnership organizations HQ and Treetops Collective. Learn more about HQ’s fantastic youth drop-in center and the resources Treetops Collective provides and how you can get involved with both.
Church plants are exactly what they sound like. They require as much help and attention as small seeds do once planted in the ground. Preview services, weekly gatherings, and a church community take a lot of willing hands, caring hearts, and planning. Not to mention the word that makes everyone squirm in their seats: money. If the ministry of City Chapel has blessed you in any way, we as that you prayerfully consider volunteering and/or giving a monthly donation. We’ve made it easy. Contact Ruth at email@example.com for volunteer opportunities and follow this link to give.
Pray for our partners at HQ. They have an ever growing wish-list in addition to monetary gifts that they are looking for to best serve the youth in Grand Rapids. Check it out. Continue to pray for their leaders, volunteers, and the youth they serve daily. May the leadership and volunteers continue to be Christ’s hands and feet for Grand Rapids’ homeless youth.
Pray for our partners at Treetops Collective. Learn more about the work they are doing with refugee women and how they are empowering them to not only establish a life in their new communities but also to thrive.
If you have a prayer request, concern, or just need a friend to chat, please reach out to City Chapel Pastors, Ron and Anna, at any time. They’d love to meet you and treat you to a cup of coffee anytime. You can contact them via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (Ron: 616-914-8258 or Anna: (616) 481-8513)
