“A church of the gospel” in Word and Deed

This is something you will hear constantly at City Chapel. Without one or the other it’s not the gospel of Jesus Christ. Gospel means “good news.” Without Christ-like deeds (actions, how we live, what we do), it’s not good. Without the proclaimed word of salvation and forgiveness in Jesus Christ there is no life-changing news. When we say we are a “church of the gospel,” this is what we mean. Both/And. Without one or the other it’s a stunted, malnourished, perverted “gospel.” Jesus’ gospel is life, hope, and truth. This is the culture we are cultivating at City Chapel: A group of people dedicated to being gospel-oriented in word and deed.
